2026 Renault Duster India Launch on March 17: Expected Price, Features and Hybrid Powertrain

The all-new third-generation Renault Duster is set to make its long-awaited return to the Indian market on March 17, 2026. After being absent for several years, the iconic SUV is finally coming back in a completely redesigned form with modern technology, new powertrain options and a more premium cabin.

Pre-bookings for the upcoming SUV have already started through Renault’s R-Pass program with a token amount of ₹21,000. Dealerships across the country have also begun receiving display units ahead of the official launch.

New Platform Developed for India

Unlike the European version of the Duster that is built on the CMF-B platform, the India-spec 2026 model will be based on the newly developed RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform). This localized platform has been designed specifically to suit Indian road conditions and market requirements.

The new architecture is expected to provide improved cabin space, enhanced structural strength and a more advanced electronic system. Renault is reportedly targeting a high safety rating with the updated structure while also improving interior practicality and comfort.

Interior and Features

The upcoming Duster is expected to feature a significantly upgraded cabin with a stronger focus on technology and comfort. The dashboard will likely be dominated by a large touchscreen infotainment system paired with a fully digital instrument cluster.

Key features expected on the SUV include a 10.1-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital driver display and integrated Google-based connected technology. The system is designed to support navigation services, voice assistance and personalized driver profiles.

Comfort features are expected to include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats with power adjustment, wireless smartphone charging and dual-zone automatic climate control. Safety technology will include Level-2 ADAS functions such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane assistance. The SUV is also expected to offer six airbags as standard along with a 360-degree camera system.

Engine Options and Hybrid Powertrain

The 2026 Duster will be offered exclusively with petrol powertrains in India. Renault is expected to provide multiple engine options to cater to different buyers.

The entry-level variant may feature a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing around 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque. This engine is expected to be paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Higher variants are likely to use a more powerful 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine delivering around 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque. This engine could be available with both a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Renault is also preparing a strong hybrid version of the Duster which is expected to arrive later in 2026. The hybrid system is expected to combine a naturally aspirated petrol engine with an electric motor and battery pack to improve fuel efficiency and allow limited electric-only driving in city conditions.

Expected Price and Rivals

The new Renault Duster is expected to be priced between ₹9.5 lakh and ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the variant and powertrain options. Once launched, the SUV will compete with several popular models in the midsize SUV segment including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

AutoXRoom Verdict

The return of the Renault Duster is one of the most anticipated SUV launches in India. With a new platform, modern features and the addition of a hybrid powertrain, the next-generation model aims to reclaim its position in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment. If Renault manages to price the new Duster aggressively, it could once again become a strong contender among popular compact SUVs in the Indian market.
