Audi India is preparing for a major expansion of its luxury vehicle portfolio with the upcoming launch of three important models. The new-generation Audi Q3, Audi A5, and flagship Audi Q9 have been confirmed for the Indian market as part of the brand’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the premium automobile segment.
All three models are planned to be locally assembled in India, which could help Audi offer more competitive pricing while expanding its product range.
New Audi Models Set to Enter India
Audi’s upcoming product offensive includes models targeting different segments of the luxury market. The third-generation Q3 will focus on the premium compact SUV category, while the new A5 will replace the outgoing A4 as Audi’s executive luxury sedan.
The Audi Q9 will sit at the top of the lineup as a large three-row luxury SUV positioned above the Q7. With these three models, Audi aims to attract customers across multiple premium vehicle categories.
Third-Generation Q3 Brings a Fresh Design
The new Audi Q3 is expected to arrive in India during the festive season of 2026. Based on the MQB evo platform, the third-generation SUV gets a sharper exterior design and a more technology-focused cabin.
The India-spec model is expected to use a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 204 bhp, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive.
Inside, the SUV is expected to feature large digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, and three-zone climate control. Audi is also evaluating both standard SUV and Sportback body styles for the Indian market.

Audi A5 to Replace the A4
The new Audi A5 is expected to arrive in India in early 2027, with February currently indicated as the likely launch period. It will effectively take over the position previously occupied by the A4 under Audi’s revised global naming strategy.
The sedan is expected to feature a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
The cabin will receive a major technology upgrade, including the option of a dedicated touchscreen for the front passenger. This will give the A5 a more modern and premium character compared with the outgoing generation.
Q9 Will Become Audi India’s Largest SUV
The Audi Q9 is expected to make its Indian debut in the second half of 2027. Measuring more than 5.3 metres in length, the flagship SUV will offer a proper three-row cabin designed for customers seeking maximum space and luxury.
The Q9 is expected to use a petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. Audi is currently expected to focus exclusively on petrol power for the India-spec Q9 rather than introducing a diesel version.
The model will compete directly with large luxury SUVs such as the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

Local Assembly Could Improve Market Position
One of the biggest developments is Audi’s decision to locally assemble all three upcoming models through the CKD route. Production will take place at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
Local assembly could help Audi control import-related costs and potentially make these vehicles more competitive in their respective segments.
Audi Plans a Bigger Retail Network
Audi India is also preparing to expand its dealership network alongside the new product launches. The company currently operates around 29 showrooms and plans to increase this number to approximately 40 dealerships by the end of 2027.
The expansion will focus not only on major metropolitan areas but also on Tier-II and Tier-III cities, giving Audi access to a wider customer base.
What This Product Offensive Means for Audi
The arrival of the Q3, A5, and Q9 represents a major expansion for Audi in India. The company is targeting significant growth in its luxury market share over the next three years by introducing newer products and strengthening its retail presence.
The Q3 could become an important volume model, while the A5 will bring a fresh alternative to the executive luxury sedan segment. At the same time, the Q9 will strengthen Audi’s position in the premium three-row SUV category.
Market Positioning
Audi’s upcoming lineup covers three very different luxury segments, giving the brand a stronger presence across compact SUVs, executive sedans, and full-size luxury SUVs. The locally assembled Q3, A5, and Q9 are expected to help Audi compete more aggressively with BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, and other premium manufacturers in India.
AutoXRoom Verdict
Audi’s decision to bring the new Q3, A5, and Q9 to India signals a major change in its product strategy. With modern technology, updated designs, petrol powertrains, and local assembly, the three models could significantly strengthen Audi’s position in the Indian luxury car market.
The Q3 is likely to attract the widest audience, the A5 will appeal to premium sedan buyers, while the Q9 will target customers looking for a spacious and highly luxurious three-row SUV.
