BMW Motorrad has officially launched the M 1000 R in India, expanding its high-performance motorcycle lineup with a powerful super naked offering. Priced at ₹33.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the M 1000 R sits at the top of BMW’s roadster range and brings track-focused engineering into a street-legal package.
The M 1000 R is based on the S 1000 R but receives significant upgrades in terms of performance, aerodynamics and components, making it one of the most aggressive naked motorcycles currently available in India.
Engine And Performance
The BMW M 1000 R is powered by a 999cc inline four-cylinder engine derived from the S 1000 RR superbike. This high-performance engine produces around 210 hp and is paired with a six-speed gearbox along with a quickshifter for seamless gear changes.
The motorcycle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in under 3 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to around 280 kmph. The engine tuning and lightweight construction ensure sharp throttle response and strong mid-range performance.

Design And Aerodynamics
The M 1000 R features an aggressive design that reflects its performance-focused nature. It comes with carbon fibre body panels, sharp tank extensions and a muscular stance.
One of the standout elements is the addition of aerodynamic winglets, which help improve stability at high speeds by generating downforce. The bike also features signature M branding and exclusive colour schemes that differentiate it from standard BMW models.
Chassis And Suspension
BMW has equipped the M 1000 R with a lightweight chassis designed for precision handling. The motorcycle features fully adjustable upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock suspension setup, allowing riders to fine-tune the bike for different riding conditions.
The braking system includes high-performance M-spec brakes that provide strong stopping power and consistent performance even under aggressive riding.

Electronics And Riding Aids
The M 1000 R comes loaded with advanced electronics and rider assistance systems. It includes multiple riding modes, traction control, wheelie control and engine brake control.
The bike also features a full-colour TFT display that provides detailed riding information and connectivity features. Additional highlights include launch control, cruise control and advanced ABS settings.
Price And Rivals
Priced at ₹33.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the BMW M 1000 R competes with other high-performance naked motorcycles such as the Ducati Streetfighter V4, Kawasaki Z H2 and Aprilia Tuono V4.
